Do I need a motorcycle licence to participate?
Yes – all riders must hold a current and valid motorcycle licence. This is essential for both your safety and to comply with public road and trail regulations and will be checked at sign-in.
I’ve got my L-plates and a learner-approved bike – can I join the tour?
Yes – as long as you hold a current motorcycle learner’s licence and your bike is learner-approved and fully road-registered, you’re welcome to join. We recommend reaching out before booking so we can chat about your riding experience and make sure the tour is the right fit for your skill level. A positive attitude and a love for adventure go a long way!
Do you provide bikes?
No – 2Wheeled Mt Field is a BYO (bring your own) bike tour. Riders must supply their own fully road-registered enduro or trail bike suitable for mixed terrain.
What kind of bike is suitable?
A fully road-registered enduro-style dirt bike with new or near new knobby tyres and off-road capability is compulsory. It must be legally compliant and in good mechanical condition, all bikes will be inspected on arrival.
Is protective gear provided?
No – you must bring your own full protective riding gear, including:
• DOT-approved helmet
• Riding boots
• Gloves
• Body armour or protective jacket
• Eye protection
• Riding pants and jersey or jacket
Safety is taken seriously – riders without appropriate gear will not be permitted to join tours.
Do I need off-road riding experience?
Yes – while you don’t have to be a pro, you should be comfortable and competent riding off-road, including on gravel, mud, and technical trails. Some tours may be more advanced than others.
Is food available?
Absolutely! Included in our packages, breakfast, dinner and trail snacks are catered for in our onsite dining room and lunch is supplied out on the trail.
Can non-riders stay as well?
Yes – non-riding partners or friends are welcome to stay and enjoy the beautiful Mt Field area while riders hit the trails. Accommodation and meals can be booked separately depending on availability.
What kind of trails do we ride?
Tours explore a mix of forestry trails, technical single trails, pine forests fire breaks, and back roads around Mt Field National Park and surrounding regions. Trail selection is based on rider ability and conditions.
What happens if my bike breaks down during a ride?
We recommend all bikes are in excellent mechanical condition before the tour. We carry basic tools and can help with minor trail-side repairs, but major breakdowns may require recovery back to our base.
What if I have a medical condition?
You will need to make us aware of your condition and based on the information we have provided you will need to discuss with your GP if you are fit to join one of our tours, also, we will need written conformation from your GP confirming this.
What If I have an accident?
As there is always a risk of injury due to the nature of adventure sports, our guides are trained in first aid and carry essential emergency gear, including a first aid kit, satellite communications, and an emergency beacon. If something goes wrong, we’re equipped to respond.
